Your destination for travel health
Due to improved ease of travel and our well-known sense of adventure, more and more Australians are travelling overseas – often to exotic and remote locations. As the number of Australians travelling overseas increases, so do the number of travellers who become ill – sometimes fatally.
There are many things you can do to ensure you are a healthy traveller.
Dry Skin and Eczema
Bowel Cancer - a deadly reality
If bowel cancer is detected before it has spread beyond the bowel, the chance of surviving for at least five years after diagnosis is around 90% and most people are able to return to their current lifestyle. Sadly, most cases are not detected until a later stage and so, overall, close to only 60% of people diagnosed with the disease survive five years. The fact is that early detection offers the best hope of reducing the number of Australians who die each year from bowel cancer.
Good night. Sleep tight.
Sleep apnoea is a condition where breathing is repeatedly interrupted during sleep.1 There are two main types of sleep apnoea – obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) and central sleep apnoea. A third type called mixed apnoea occurs when someone has a combination of the two. Each form of sleep apnoea has di erent causes and treatments. OSA is the most common form.
What is Sleep Apnoea?
Obstructive Sleep Apnoea (OSA) is a common and serious sleep disorder that causes you to stop breathing during sleep. The airway repeatedly becomes blocked, limiting the amount of air that reaches your lungs. When this happens, you may snore loudly or making choking noises as you try to breathe. Your brain and body becomes oxygen deprived and you may wake up. This may happen a few times a night, or in more severe cases, several hundred times a night.
